Countries where you don’t need an international driver’s license

– For all those who travel and do not know, an international driver’s license is not required for the countries with which Serbia borders – says Nevena Damjanović from AMSS.

So, the countries where you don’t need an international driving license are:

  • Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • Montenegro
  • North Macedonia
  • Hungary
  • Bulgaria
  • Romania
  • Croatia

It is not necessary for Greece, Slovenia and Austria either

Since 2016, an international driver’s license is not required even for Greece, the Serbs’ favorite tourist destination

Drivers with a probationary license cannot get an international one

He states that our driver’s license can be used in Slovenia as well as Austria, but it is required for, say, Germany, Italy and France.

It can be obtained by all citizens of the Republic of Serbiaif they have a license issued right here. For those who have a trial driving license, it is not possible to get an international one – says Damjanović for “Prva TV”.

Nevena Damjanović also explains that the international permit issued at AMSS counters, and the procedure is very short.

For these documents, drivers need:

– Everything costs about 2,000 dinars plus taxes of 960 dinars – says Damjanović.

An international driving license is required in the following countries

Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, Germany, France, Netherlands, Russia, Switzerland, Sweden and Spain.

An international driving license is not required for the following countries

Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Romania, Montenegro, Czech Republic, Greece, Croatia, Luxembourg, Hungary, North Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine and Great Britain.

Crowds in the following days

As he notes, already this afternoon crowds are expected at all exits from Belgrade.

– These days, it is expected that the stay at the border crossings is longer than 15-20 minutes. Crowds should be expected at the borders of Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Hungary, Croatia – said Nevena Damjanović from AMSS today for “Prva TV”.
