A disturbing video appeared on social media showing how the staff of a nursing home in Peja is mistreating an old woman – one of the sisters slaps her, insensibly, hitting her several times, while the others are filming and, as can be heard on the video, laughing.
While slapping her, the worker holds the grandmother’s hands, so that she cannot break free, that is, run away. With that, the bully laughs, as do her present colleagues.
Two women workers at the Home for the Elderly in Peja were arrested today on suspicion of physical violence against an elderly resident of the home, the Kosovo Police announced immediately after a video of this scene of violence was published on social media, reports KoSSev. The spokesperson of the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Peja said a little later that the Kosovo police arrested a third person who allegedly recorded the moment of mistreatment of the old woman.
Kosovo’s interior minister condemned the incident. Meanwhile, Gazeta Express reported that four nurses were suspended because of this case.
The footage of the violence that was published today on social networks and in the media allegedly took place in the “Orenda u Peć” care center for the elderly, and the police spokesman for the Peć region, Fadilj Gashi, stated in a statement for Klan Kosova that the attack on the old woman actually took place on 29 of October, reports KoSSev.
