A video of a rescue operation in St. Petersburg in which a man was pulled from a very narrow pipe has gone viral on the Internet.

Namely, the video shows a man stuck in a sewer pipe, which is said to be located under the parking lot of the Pulkovo International Airport in St. Petersburg, Russia.

According to reports, the man entered the sewer pipe with the intention of cleaning it, but got stuck after entering about 12 meters deep. He struggled for some time in the cramped environment before rescuers arrived and rescued him. The rescue lasted several hours.

According to the video, he was shirtless when he was pulled from the tube, implying that he had left his clothes outside before entering the tube.

The clip has surfaced on multiple social media platforms, including Reddit and Twitter. On Reddit it was written: “In the Moscow district of St. Petersburg, a man walked into a sewer pipe and got stuck after ten meters. They had to dig a road to save him.”

The video soon received 5,000 likes and several hundred comments.

Many users have expressed their fear of being trapped in a situation like this. One user commented: “This is worse than those cavemen who have to take off their helmets to get through the hole.”

“I first read about it a few months ago. My claustrophobia reached a new level. Why would anyone do that? I mean, if you have to exhale to go through an opening, you’re not meant to go through that opening. And to think that someone had to be the first to map these caves,” another user stated.

Explaining a personal experience, a third user said: “There are some polar caves near where I live. They have been a tourist attraction for decades because they are perfectly safe and it’s really nice to see the snow and ice in the cave in the middle of summer. I took the kids there when were small and so I discovered that I was claustrophobic (cave-phobic?) and had a panic attack trying to enter the first cave.”
