The life of Slovenian Tadeja Gregorec (23) changed three years ago at a student party in Štuk, Slovenia.
The girl competed to be the first to eat the gibanica. She started choking.
At KBC Maribor they fought for her life, she was in a serious condition, she survived but never recovered. Three years after the accident, the family cared for her 24 hours a day. She recently passed away.
“Her husband left his job to take care of her, he was by her side all the time. We helped her, but we had to accept a cruel fate,” said her mother Suzana, reports Ptujinfo.
As she said, due to the consequences of suffocation, Tadeja could not communicate other than with her eyes or tongue.
“She confirmed with her eyes or her tongue that she understood us, but she couldn’t do more than that,” added the mother.
Puconci Volleyball Club, of which she was a member, also said goodbye to the girl.
“Much too soon, with too many questions as to why, and with the great void she left between us. Thaddeus, rest in peace,” they wrote.
