Russian authorities announced that the pro-Russian MP from Donetsk, Maria Pirogova (29), was killed during Ukrainian shelling.

She has been a member of the Donetsk Parliament since 2018 and represented the pro-Russian side.

Denis Pushila, the leader of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, announced that Maria Pirogov was killed in combat, reports Euro Weekly News.

“I just found out that Marija Pirogova, a member of the National Council, a volunteer, was killed. Masha! I can’t believe it…” he wrote on his Telegram channel.

“She was an example of kindness. She was a truly noble person. She helped everyone. She was full of energy and talents,” said the pro-Russian leader of the Donbas region, Denis Pushilin, on the occasion of her death.

Pro-Russian separatists declared the independence of Lugansk and Donetsk back in 2014. Russian President Vladimir Putin officially recognized the independence of these two regions on February 21 of this year.

Three days later, clashes began in Ukraine during which a large number of people were killed and displaced.

Russian authorities paid tribute to Maria, saying she had worked hard to help children for years.

Maria graduated from the music academy, she was married to volunteer Aleksandar Hereskulov.

As reported by RIA Novosti, two people were killed and 10 were injured during the shelling of the central Voroshilov district in Donetsk.

The headquarters of the territorial defense of the DPR announced: “As a result of shelling from Ukraine in the Voroshilov district of Donetsk, two people died, and the number of wounded increased to 10 people.
