Green-Left Front MP Jelena Jerinić said today that she was at a meeting between the government and the opposition in the parliament reached an agreement regarding the education of the working group to fulfill the recommendations of ODIHR, but that no progress has been made in connection with the formation of the commission for revision of the voter list.

– Some of our comments were appreciated, which is to give priority to recommendations that can be fulfilled by June 2 and also, as was said last time, this working group that should be formed on Monday will be chaired by a representative of civil society – said Jerinić to journalists in the Serbian Parliament.

Suggestions during the weekend

Jerinić stated that they once again highlighted the proposal to adopt changes to the law in an urgent procedure, at the next session of the assembly, which would enable that those who have changed their place of residence in the last 12 months cannot vote at their new address on June 2.

– We have committed to submit a specific proposal for legal changes during the weekend, which we expect to be put on the agenda at the first national session – Jerinić said.

As for the electoral roll revision committee, she said no progress had been made since the previous meeting.

MP Biljana Đorđević of the Green-Left Front said that they reiterated at the meeting that a legal basis is necessary for such a commission, but there was no understanding from the other side, because they want to start working as soon as possible.

The bottom line is that the opposition proposes the formation of a commission for revision of the voter list with executive powers, and the government a working group.

– It is not satisfactory for us to work on something that will be presented as the fulfillment of ODIHR’s recommendations, but we will continue to insist on a legal basis and work within the working group that will prepare legal texts to fulfill the recommendations and to write a law that will to establish a commission for revising the voter list – she explained.

Đorđević said that the meeting with public services has not been abandoned, adding that it will be held on Monday.

– We will participate in that meeting and ask all the questions and requests in relation to RTS and RTV that we had planned – said Đorđević.
