WASHINGTON does not yet have free Patriot air defense systems that could be transferred to Ukraine, according to an interview with National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan on MSNBC.

– Patriot air defense systems are currently deployed around the world, including the Middle East, to protect US troops. If we can free up additional American batteries, we will send them to Ukraine – the official said.
At the same time, the US intends to convince partners in Europe and other regions of the world to supply Kiev with their existing air defense systems, Sullivan added.
As Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported in March, the Russian army has destroyed five Patriot systems since the beginning of the year.
As the Washington Post wrote, citing officials in Kiev, Ukrainian troops are experiencing a shortage of ammunition for air defense.
