Novak Djokovic won an incredible 4.74 million dollars by winning the final tournament in Turin.
At the conference, the Serbian tennis player was asked a question about earnings in dollars, and then, as if from a cannon, he had a ready answer that made everyone in the hall laugh:
– I don’t think about dollars at all, only about euros and dinars – Djokovic said, and then quoted his great friend Zlatan Ibrahimovic:
– When Ibra played for LA Galaxy, when asked why he refused 100 million to move to another club, he said: – Money is important, a lot of money is important, and 100 million is not enough! It was quite funny, but it’s all public information – emphasized the Serbian tennis player.
In the continuation of the conversation, Djokovic was honest and even mentioned the war and sanctions that affected our country at the time when he was growing up.
– Of course, people see how much we earn. What is not written about are all taxes and other costs. But it’s normal. I can’t sit here and talk about money as a life problem or anything like that. I was very lucky. It is a consequence of the tennis successes I have achieved with my family and team. I believe that every euro I have is earned with sweat and tears. I don’t take anything for granted because I know what it’s like to have empty pockets in a family of five, war, sanctions. Let’s not forget where I’m from, what time I grew up. I know the other side very well and it helps me appreciate everything I earn more – Djokovic concluded.
Novak is the record holder for the sum earned from tournament prizes and is the only one to exceed the amount of 160 million dollars.
